We are a registered charity now.

Professor Suraksha Gupta comes to support the event

Hello Everyone,

We have some great news to share: Happy to Chat is now officially registered as a non-profit organization in the UK (Charity number: 1209938)! You can find us on the Charity Commission website (https://www.gov.uk/gover…/organisations/charity-commission). 馃榿

Our mission is simple: we promote conversations and communication between and amongst people, fostering social inclusion.

If you want to create a better and friendlier community, start by chatting with a stranger for two minutes every day. Put on your Happy to Chat badge, which signals others around you know that you’re open to a conversation. Whether it’s chatting about the weather with the people queuing behind you while waiting for coffee, or smiling and saying good morning to the person passing by during your walk in the park, these small exchanges of conversations often turn out to be surprisingly joyful and meaningful. If you’re out of time, just take off the badge and put it in your pocket鈥攔eady to use again tomorrow.

Research has proven that when communities are filled with more friendly conversations, even just a simple “hi,” it makes people feel happier, and it helps to make the community friendlier and supportive.

We welcome everyone to join and support Happy to Chat. Spend two minutes each day sharing your kindness with strangers, and let’s make our communities a nicer place together.

Since we just established as a charity, we’re still figuring things out. Currently, we host regular events in West London (e.g. Uxbridge, Ruislip, Hayes, etc.) and encourage people to pick it up and start chatting in their own communities (everywhere else in the world)! We have over 800 badges available, and you’re welcome to request one for free by emailing us.

Of course, donations are very much welcomed and greatly appreciated. All donations will be used for two purposes:

  • To purchase more badges, so anyone who wants to participate can request one or pick one up at an event.
  • To organise more community events, where everyone can enjoy interacting with others.

If you share our mission and want to help promote Happy to Chat, let us know! We warmly welcome all new ideas and hope to see people across the UK wearing Happy to Chat badges and engaging in cheerful conversations soon!

Here are our bank account details:

  • Account Name: Happy to Chat
  • Sort Code: 20-42-76

We welcome donations and fundraising efforts for Happy to Chat. We believe that no act of kindness is too small, and every little bit can eventually become something greater. Thank you all. Much love.

The Mayor and the Happy to Chat team
